Is it a building type that can be exported without a critical concern for its use, its workings, adaptability or type?If an opera theater is a finely-tuned instrument for a very specific kind of performance, this building had to resonate as well with the city and the port, helping them to connect to each other and putting them to work in a coordinated wayAt a moment in which the operatic space and the technology that supports it seem frozen in time, our building strives to get ahead of the future needs of performing space and imagine all the alternatives that its location and public nature can facilitateThus, its central space can change from an Opera Theater…To a large Exhibition Hall…Commercial or Trade Fairs programmable space…Fashion shows and catwalk…A structure which is the size of the building (and other port structures) allows for the opening of the central void in a relatively easy and economic wayThis void relates with the rest of the city, the port and the sea, becoming a new urban space, an intensely-used elevated plazaIts size and shape relates it equally with the city and with the Busan port, one of the world’s largest, and its environment made up of containers, cranes and ships
