Angel Borrego, Second Prize in Competition for Spain’s Pavilion at FIL 2024

Office for Strategic Spaces / Angel Borrego Cubero Wins Second Prize in the Design Competition for Spain’s Pavilion at FIL Guadalajara 2024

The proposal “Bajo el mismo Sol” (“Under the Same Sun”) by Office for Strategic Spaces (OSS), led by architect Ángel Borrego Cubero, has been awarded second prize in the competition to design Spain’s Pavilion at the 2024 Guadalajara International Book Fair (FIL) in Mexico.

In its 38th edition, FIL Guadalajara will feature Spain as Guest of Honor, and the competition was organized by Acción Cultural Española (AC/E) to select the country’s official pavilion design.

The awarded project draws inspiration from one of the “Moral Emblems” by Sebastián de Covarrubias Orozco, specifically the phrase: “Este Sol de justicia en toda parte, sin hacer división o diferencia, su clara lumbre de piedad reparte, a ninguno negando su presencia” (“This just Sun, shining everywhere without division or difference, generously shares its clear light of compassion, denying no one its presence.)
