La Carbonería, the multifamily housing rehabilitation project in Barcelona’s Eixample district by architect Ángel Borrego Cubero, director of Office for Strategic Spaces, is featured in Radical Rehab. Architecture and Heritage in Spain (1975–2025), an exhibition at La Casa de la Arquitectura in Madrid, curated by Ángela Juarranz and Carlos Mombiela.
The exhibition brings together exemplary projects illustrating the evolution of architectural rehabilitation in Spain over the past 50 years. Through a selection of interventions in existing buildings, neighborhoods, and landscapes, it explores the role of architecture in preserving and transforming the built heritage, as well as its capacity to adapt existing structures to new uses and needs.
Radical Rehab is part of La Casa de la Arquitectura’s spring 2026 exhibition program, alongside Bienestar en la ciudad (Wellbeing in the City) and Fins ací (Up to Here). The three exhibitions explore, from different perspectives, the relationship between architecture, the built environment, and quality of life.
Radical Rehab is on view from April 23, 2026, to March 28, 2027, at La Casa de la Arquitectura, located in the Arquería de Nuevos Ministerios (Paseo de la Castellana, 67, Madrid). Admission is free.
